However, we also recommend you always follow these 7 simple rules – these will be good both for your garment and for the planet:
Do not over-wash your clothes. Instead, air out and spot clean between wears.
If there are stains on your garment, use a recommended stain remover.
Always wash at the lowest advised temperature.
Always wash your garments inside out.
Always close the zip and buttons before washing.
Do not use fabric softener.
Avoid using the dryer.
We would also like to share our opinion about the 3 types of washing:
Hand washing is not always the best way to wash your clothes. Today’s washing machines have very efficient programs that leave even very delicate fabrics in a perfect condition after washing – so in most cases this will be our recommendation. Machine washing also tends to be friendly to the environment, since the use of water is much reduced compared to hand washing. If you do hand wash, you should use lukewarm or cold water, and do not soak your clothes, wring or twist them. Use special hand wash detergent – and make sure you rinse well.
Avoid dry cleaning if possible, since it is harmful to the environment due to the chemicals used in the process. However, dry cleaning is the appropriate cleaning method for delicate garments or stained fabrics that cannot be cleaned with water-based methods. Therefore, we always recommend dry cleaning for our wool outerwear, constructed blazers and leather garments.
Taking care of your clothes benefits both you and the environment. Not only does it extend the lifespan of your wardrobe, but it also reduces the environmental impact of clothing by minimizing overconsumption and waste.
We almost always recommend machine washing – and you should choose the temperature that is advised on the care label. With today’s enzyme detergents you can wash at quite low temperatures (30-40°C) and still get your clothes clean (note – there are different recommendations for bed linen, towels, underwear, etc). Machine washing is the best option if you want to wash your clothes in an environmentally friendly way. Always make sure to fill the machine and choose eco-friendly programs if possible.
