0’s SOPHISTICATED PARIS MEETS THE NOMADS OF SAHARA
Desert heat, searing sun and an insatiable thirst for life. To dare set out on a journey and experience the world as it is – unpredictable and always on the move – with strength and courage as your most important travel accessories. This is the essence of PART TWO's 2008 spring collection. Strong women who live life to the full and give it everything they have got. Do you dare tag along? The journey begins with you.
Pernille Skriver and her design team have drawn inspiration from the contrast between the feminine sophistication of Paris and the raw, masculine world of the Dakar Rally. Seventies decadence is clearly seen in the collection’s reference to the creator of prêt-à-porter fashion, Yves Saint-Laurent, and his fascination with North African lifestyle, and to the mythic, powerful supermodel of the times, Veruschka. She was not just a model, but rather an icon of her day – and the only model to date who has featured in every editorial article of the French edition of Vogue Magazine for four years.
The A-shaped tunic/kirtle will be a hit this season – its silhouette is a common feature of both dress tunics and jackets. The round, super-feminine neckline makes the tunic modern and light. Of special note is the casual and elegant coat in this series, whose clean details include rolled-up sleeves. Graphic expression is inspired by North Africa, where the now classic camouflage merges with an organic flower – a clear anti-war statement in which the flower becomes a symbol of peace. The beautiful, long scarves are ideal for wrapping around hair, thus evoking and retaining the image of the Sahara’s wandering nomads.
Tops, shirts and trousers have undergone a radical transformation that lends them a sophisticated, loose, style and expression using metal-wire materials to produce a slightly wrinkled effect. The colours are in line with the season and the theme, with a sky-blue/grey backdrop, green with beige, red with off-white and camel, not to mention the gorgeous rose/camel.
Carrot-shaped trousers are back. Loose and baggy and more details, but this time with shape, as well as a super-raw biker jacket available in authentic denim, deliciously soft leather and more. Another spring highlight is the oversized, collarless shirt which is clearly inspired by classic men’s striped shirts with matching buttons. Here, once again, a small detail that makes all the difference.
The spring fashion style for bags at PART TWO is rustic, soft and once again features beautiful 70s-inspired details. Studs, buckles and classic style make the bags equally suitable for Paris and Dakar.
